Autism

Symptoms of autism vary from person to person. Common symptoms an individual may experience may include difficulty in social situations, having a blunt or rude affect, difficulty describing their emotions, difficulty understanding how others think or feel, having obsessive interests or hobbies, and engaging in repetitive behaviors. Individuals may engage in inappropriate social interactions and have poor eye contact, or act impulsively. There may be limited interest in activities and the individual may struggle with paying attention. Often there is a delay in speech or a learning disability when the person is or was a child. Other co-occurring symptoms may be present (anxiety, ADHD).

If you or your child have been diagnosed with autism, or suspect autism, therapy can be helpful for developing skills and strategies to increase emotional regulation when under stress, understand overwhelming stimuli, advocate, and communicate needs, and increase independent living skills. We have experience working with and supporting autistic individuals of all ages and their families.
